Praise is not a warm-up act for the real thing — it is the real thing. When the people of God declare His greatness, His goodness, and His glory, something happens in the spiritual realm: God is enthroned. His presence becomes tangible. The enemy is silenced. The soul is reoriented from its own anxieties to the One who is worthy of all worship. Declarations of praise are not dependent on circumstances — they are the deliberate choice to declare who God is regardless of what is happening around you. They are the sacrifice of praise, offered when it costs something. They are the weapon of Jehoshaphat's army, who went into battle singing. They are for those who need to shift their focus from their problems to their God.
I declare that the Lord is great and greatly to be praised. His greatness is unsearchable. He is clothed in splendor and majesty. He wraps Himself in light as with a garment. He stretches out the heavens like a tent. He set the earth on its foundations. He made the moon to mark the seasons. I stand before this God in awe, and I declare: You are worthy. You are great. You are glorious.
I declare that I will bless the Lord at all times — not just when things are going well, not just when I feel like it, but at all times. His praise will continually be in my mouth. I will not let my circumstances determine my worship. I choose to praise Him in the wilderness, in the waiting, in the suffering, and in the celebration. He is worthy of praise in every season.
I declare with the seraphim and the elders and the living creatures around the throne: Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come. Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise. To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever.
I declare that I enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. I give thanks to Him and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations. I do not approach God with complaint or demand — I approach Him with gratitude, with wonder, and with the declaration that He is good, that He is faithful, and that He is worthy of all my praise.
