When I Carry Grief or Regret After an Abortion
Full Text
Merciful Father, You know the whole truth of my story—the circumstances, the fear, the pressure, the decision, and everything I have carried since. I bring You the grief, regret, anger, numbness, confusion, or shame that I may have hidden from others and even from myself. I confess what I need to confess, and I ask for the forgiveness made possible through Jesus Christ. Help me receive Your mercy rather than believing I must punish myself forever. Where I was pressured, deceived, abandoned, or harmed, bring healing and justice. Where I bear responsibility, lead me into honest repentance without despair. Give me a safe place to grieve the child whose life ended. Teach me how to remember without being destroyed by memory. Bring wise pastoral care, professional counseling, and trustworthy companions if I need them. Heal the child's father and others affected by this loss as well. Jesus, break the power of secrecy and shame. Restore what can be restored, redeem what I cannot undo, and lead me into a life marked by truth, compassion, and hope. Amen.
