In the Waiting for a Child

Father of all creation, You know the longing we carry. You see the hope that rises each month and the sorrow that follows disappointment. You know the questions we speak aloud and the ones we are almost afraid to admit. We bring all of them to You. Please give us strength for this season of waiting. Guard our marriage and our hearts from blame, isolation, envy, and despair. Give wisdom to every physician and counselor who helps us. Lead us clearly as we consider testing, treatment, adoption, or any other path before us. We ask boldly for the gift of a child. Yet even as we ask, keep us close to You. Do not allow this unfulfilled desire to become the measure of our worth or the boundary of our hope. Remind us that we are seen, loved, and held by You today—not only on the day our prayer may be answered as we desire. Through Jesus Christ, give us patient hope, tenderness toward one another, and courage for the next step. Amen.
