Beside the Incubator

InterdenominationalPregnancy, Birth & Unborn Life

Full Text

Compassionate Father, This is not how we imagined our child's first days. The machines, alarms, medical terms, and uncertainty are frightening. We want to hold and protect this baby, yet so much is beyond our hands. Please sustain this little life. Strengthen every breath, heartbeat, organ, and system still developing. Protect this child from infection, bleeding, injury, and setbacks. Give the neonatal team wisdom, alertness, skill, and tenderness. Be especially near when the parents must leave the bedside, wait for news, or make difficult decisions. Guard them from exhaustion and despair. Help them bond with their child through every touch, word, prayer, and act of care that is possible. Provide for the practical needs of their family and surround them with people who know how to help. We ask for growth, healing, and the day this child can go home. Until then, be the steady presence in every uncertain hour. Through Jesus Christ, Amen.
