Rest is not laziness. It is trust made visible. When we rest in God — truly rest, not just pause — we are declaring that we believe He is in control, that His purposes will not be thwarted, and that our striving is not what holds the world together. The peace Jesus offers is not the peace the world gives: a temporary calm when circumstances cooperate. It is a peace that surpasses understanding — a peace that stands guard over your heart and mind even when everything around you is in chaos. These affirmations are for the weary, the anxious, the exhausted, and the burned out. Come. Rest. He is enough.
I do not need to be anxious about anything. Instead, I bring everything to God in prayer and thanksgiving. And the peace of God — which surpasses all understanding — guards my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus. This peace is not something I manufacture. It is something I receive. I receive it now.
Jesus Himself is my peace. He has broken down every dividing wall. He has reconciled me to God. I am no longer at war with my Creator — I am at peace with Him, through the blood of His cross. The restlessness I feel is not my permanent condition. I have been given access to a peace that the world cannot give and cannot take away.
My soul finds rest in God alone. My salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. I stop striving. I stop performing. I stop trying to earn what has already been freely given. I rest — not because everything is resolved, but because He is enough.
God will keep me in perfect peace when my mind is stayed on Him, because I trust in Him. The condition of perfect peace is not a perfect life — it is a mind fixed on God. I choose today to fix my thoughts on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. I choose to think on these things, and to receive the peace that follows.
