Declarations of

Spiritual Warfare

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood. The armor of God is real. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds.

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

Ephesians 6:12

Declaring War on the Enemy's Schemes

The Christian life is not a peaceful stroll — it is a battle. Paul's language in Ephesians 6 is unambiguous: there are real spiritual forces of evil, and believers are called to stand against them. The good news is that the battle is not between equals. Christ has already won the decisive victory at the cross and resurrection. The spiritual warfare we engage in is not to win a battle that is still in doubt — it is to enforce a victory that has already been secured. Declarations of spiritual warfare are the spoken assertion of Christ's lordship over every domain the enemy has tried to occupy. They are for those who are under spiritual attack, those who are interceding for others, and those who need to be reminded that the weapons God has given them are mighty.

Declarations

I Put On the Full Armor of God

I declare that I put on the full armor of God so that I can take my stand against the devil's schemes. I fasten the belt of truth around my waist. I put on the breastplate of righteousness. I fit my feet with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. I take up the shield of faith. I put on the helmet of salvation. I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. I am fully armed and fully protected.

Ephesians 6:13–17Evangelical / Charismatic

I Demolish Strongholds with Spiritual Weapons

I declare that the weapons of my warfare are not carnal but mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds. I demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. I take captive every thought and make it obedient to Christ. The strongholds the enemy has built in my mind, my emotions, and my circumstances are coming down — not by my power, but by the power of God.

2 Corinthians 10:4–5Charismatic / Evangelical

I Resist the Devil and He Flees

I declare that I submit to God and I resist the devil, and he flees from me. I do not give the enemy a foothold. I stand firm in my faith, knowing that the same kinds of sufferings are being experienced by my brothers and sisters throughout the world. The God of all grace, who called me to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore me and make me strong, firm, and steadfast.

James 4:7Evangelical / Protestant

I Overcome by the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of My Testimony

I declare that I overcome the enemy by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of my testimony. The blood of Jesus is my covering, my cleansing, and my weapon. My testimony — what God has done in my life — is a declaration of His power and faithfulness that the enemy cannot refute. I do not love my life so much as to shrink from declaring what God has done. I overcome.
