When the News Is Frightening

InterdenominationalPregnancy, Birth & Unborn Life

Full Text

Lord Jesus, We have heard words we never wanted to hear. The tests, possibilities, and medical language feel overwhelming. We are frightened for this child and for the mother, and we do not yet know what the coming days will require. Be our refuge now. Give the medical team unusual clarity, wisdom, humility, and skill. Let every test be accurately interpreted and every recommendation carefully considered. Guide us toward the right specialists and help us ask the questions we need to ask. We ask for healing, protection, and the best possible outcome for mother and child. At the same time, keep us from measuring this child's worth by health, ability, appearance, or prognosis. This child is known and loved by You and bears the dignity You give to every human life. Hold us together as a family. Protect us from panic, blame, and despair. Give us courage for the decisions ahead, strength for whatever care may be needed, and grace sufficient for each day. We place this child, this mother, and this uncertain future into Your merciful hands. Amen.
