Hold the One I Cannot Protect Completely

InterdenominationalAnxiety and Fear

Full Text

Lord, I love this person so deeply that fear has attached itself to my love. I imagine what might happen, what I might fail to prevent, and what I would do if something went wrong. You have entrusted me with love and responsibility, but You have not given me absolute control. Show me what faithful care requires. If I need to make a call, ask a question, set a boundary, seek medical attention, or offer practical help, give me clarity and courage. Where my concern has become constant surveillance, repeated checking, or an attempt to control another person’s life, teach me to release what does not belong to me. Protect the one I love. Surround them with wise people. Guide their decisions, strengthen their body and spirit, and draw them toward truth. Protect our relationship from fear disguised as love. Help me offer a peaceful presence rather than an anxious burden. I place this precious person into hands more capable than mine. Keep me faithful in my part and trusting in Yours. In Jesus’ name, amen.
