They know the doctrine of justification but carry the weight of guilt and shame as though the cross were not enough. These affirmations are for those who need to be reminded — again and again — that the forgiveness purchased at Calvary is complete, final, and personal. There is no sin too great for the blood of Christ. There is no failure that has surprised God or exhausted His grace. The freedom He offers is not just freedom from the penalty of sin — it is freedom from its power, its shame, and its grip on your identity. You are forgiven. You are free. Walk in it.
In Christ, I have redemption through His blood — the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace. My sins are not partially forgiven. They are not forgiven on probation. They are fully, finally, and freely forgiven — not because of anything I have done, but because of everything Christ has done. I receive this forgiveness today.
There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. The verdict has been declared. The gavel has fallen. I am not guilty — not because I am innocent, but because Christ took my guilt upon Himself and gave me His righteousness in return. The accuser has no legal standing. I am free.
As far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed my transgressions from me. He does not hold my past against me. He does not keep a record of wrongs. He has cast my sins into the depths of the sea. I do not need to keep retrieving what God has already buried. I am forgiven, and I choose to live like it.
It is for freedom that Christ has set me free. I stand firm, then, and do not let myself be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. The freedom Christ purchased is not just freedom from sin's penalty — it is freedom from sin's power, from shame's grip, from the performance treadmill. I am free. I stand in that freedom today.
