The God of the Bible is not indifferent to injustice — He is its fiercest opponent. From the Exodus to the prophets to the ministry of Jesus, Scripture consistently shows a God who hears the cry of the oppressed, defends the vulnerable, and calls His people to do the same. These texts are gathered for those who pray at the intersection of faith and justice — who believe that prayer and action belong together, and that the kingdom of God is both a present reality to be embodied and a future hope to be anticipated.
Lord, You heard the cry of Your people in Egypt and You came down to deliver them. Hear the cry of the oppressed today — those trapped in poverty, those denied dignity, those whose voices are silenced by power. Raise up deliverers. Stir the conscience of those with influence. And stir my own heart to be part of the answer to the prayers I am praying.
I am called to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with my God. Justice is not a political agenda — it is a biblical mandate. I choose today to see the world through the eyes of those who are marginalized, to use whatever influence I have on behalf of those who have less, and to let my faith be expressed in concrete acts of love and advocacy.
I declare that justice will prevail because God is just. Every system of oppression, every act of injustice, every abuse of power will one day be brought before the judgment seat of a righteous God. I declare that the arc of history bends toward justice because the God of history is just. I partner with that arc today through prayer, through action, and through the hope of the coming kingdom.
Father, sustain those who work for justice day after day — the advocates, the lawyers, the social workers, the community organizers, the pastors in difficult neighborhoods. The work is long, the opposition is real, and the victories are often small. Renew their strength, protect their hope, and remind them that their labor is not in vain in the Lord.
