Relationships

Lord, I confess that I often see people through the lens of my own needs, wounds, and expectations. Give me Your eyes — eyes that see the image of God in every person, that notice the hidden pain behind difficult behavior, and that look for what You are doing in someone's life rather than what frustrates me about them. Let Your love for people become my love for people.

I am called to love — not perfectly, but persistently. I choose today to be patient with the people in my life, to extend the grace I have received, and to pursue reconciliation rather than distance. I am not alone in this: the Holy Spirit empowers me to love in ways that exceed my natural capacity. I choose love as a daily practice and a spiritual discipline.

I declare that I release every person who has hurt me into the hands of God. I choose forgiveness — not because what was done was acceptable, but because I refuse to be bound by bitterness. I declare that the chains of unforgiveness are broken in my life. I am free to love again, to trust again, and to hope again. Forgiveness is not weakness; it is the power of the gospel at work in me.

Father, I bring before You a relationship that has been damaged — by words spoken in anger, by trust broken, by distance that has grown. I do not know how to fix it on my own. But You are the God of reconciliation, who in Christ has torn down every dividing wall. Work in both of us — soften hearts, create openings, and give us the courage to take the first step toward restoration.
