A Prayer for a Struggling Marriage

EvangelicalMarriage and Family

Full Text

Father, this marriage is not what we hoped it would be. There is distance where there should be closeness, hurt where there should be healing, and silence where there should be honest conversation. We are struggling, and I bring that struggle honestly before You. You designed marriage. You know what it was meant to be. You are not surprised by where we are, and You are not finished with us. I ask for Your grace to cover what we have broken. I ask for softness where we have become hard, humility where we have become proud, and patience where we have become impatient. Remind us both why we chose each other. Remind us that we are on the same side. Give us the courage to seek help when we need it, and the willingness to do the hard work of repair. Let this marriage become a testimony to Your redeeming power — not a monument to our own strength, but to Yours. Restore what has been lost. Rebuild what has been broken. And let love, Your kind of love, be the foundation we return to.
