God of mercy, The world has changed, and I do not yet know how to live inside what has happened. Part of me is numb. Part of me wants to cry out. My thoughts will not stay in order, and ordinary decisions feel heavier than they should. I do not have to make sense of this loss today. I bring You what I actually have: shock, sorrow, questions, exhaustion, and the love that now aches because someone or something precious is gone. Hold me in these first hours. Breathe for me when prayer is beyond my strength. Place trustworthy people around me who can help with what I cannot carry. Protect me from pressure to be strong, composed, or certain before I am ready. Jesus, You wept at the grave of Your friend. Meet me without embarrassment in my tears and without impatience in my numbness. Keep me through this hour, and then the next. Let Your nearness be enough for the moment before me. Amen.
