God Is Present in the Operating Room

I am going into a room I cannot control, and God is already there. He is present in the hands of my surgeon, in the attention of my nurses, in the precision of the instruments. He is not waiting outside while the procedure happens — He is in it with me. I choose to trust that God is at work in the operating room as surely as He is at work in the sanctuary. Medicine and faith are not in competition. The skill of my medical team is a form of God's provision. I release my body into their care and into God's care at the same time, trusting that both are real and that both are working together for my good.
