Fear Will Not Steal Every Remaining Day

InterdenominationalGrief and Loss

Full Text

I declare that fear of the ending will not steal every day that remains. I will face medical and practical realities honestly, seek wise counsel, and prepare where preparation is needed. But I will not rehearse the final moment so constantly that I become absent from the person I love today. I will receive each day as it comes. I will make room for tenderness, rest, ordinary conversation, unresolved emotion, and the help of community. I will not measure love by whether I can prevent death or remove suffering. In life and in death, we belong to the Lord. The future is not mine to control, but this day is mine to inhabit with faithfulness and love.

Scripture References

Matthew 6:34

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Psalm 118:24

"This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."

Romans 14:8

"If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord."
