I Am Grieving, but I Am Not Abandoned
Full Text
My grief is real because my love is real. I do not need to minimize my sorrow, hide my tears, or meet anyone else's timetable for healing. The death of my spouse has changed my life profoundly, but it has not removed me from the presence or love of God. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and He is near to me now—even when I cannot feel His presence clearly. I may experience loneliness, confusion, anger, exhaustion, relief, gratitude, or guilt. These changing emotions do not make me faithless. Grief is not a spiritual failure. Jesus Himself wept in the presence of death. I can face this loss one day, one decision, and one breath at a time. I do not need to understand the whole future today. God will provide the grace I need for each step as it comes. The life and love I shared with my spouse remain part of my story. Remembering does not prevent healing, and healing does not betray the person I love. I can treasure what has been while gradually learning to receive the life that remains before me. I am allowed to ask for help. I am worthy of companionship, patience, rest, and care. I will not isolate myself when grief becomes too heavy to carry alone. My identity is wounded, but it is not destroyed. I am still known by God, loved by Christ, and held by the Holy Spirit. I remain a person with dignity, purpose, relationships, gifts, and a future. I am grieving, but I am not abandoned. Sorrow is part of my present life, but it will not be the final word over me.
